Multi-Chain Gas Fees, Live

π‘ How to read this: Gas data refreshes every 90 seconds. Slow is fine for non-urgent transactions (confirms in 5-30 minutes); Standard usually confirms in 1-2 minutes; Fast confirms in under 30 seconds but pays the highest premium. Layer 2 networks (Arbitrum / Optimism / Base) are typically 10-100x cheaper than L1.

When is gas cheapest?
Years of observation point to a few recurring low-gas windows on Ethereum:
- UTC 00:00-08:00 (US East 19:00-03:00 / Asia 08:00-16:00): the US and European trading day is winding down β gas is usually at its lowest
- Weekends: DeFi volume drops, gas trends lower
- BTC / ETH range-bound periods: arbitrage bots are quiet and gas stays stable
Avoid:
- UTC 13:00-22:00: the US East work day overlaps with the Asia evening peak
- IDO / airdrop claim windows: gas can spike 10x in seconds
- Right after major macro events (FOMC meeting, CPI prints)
L1 vs L2 β which one to use
- Large transfers (> $10K): use L1 (ETH mainnet) β deepest liquidity, highest security, and gas is a small share of the trade
- Day-to-day DeFi (< $1K): use L2 (Arbitrum / Base / Optimism) β same on-chain action, 90%+ cheaper
- Stablecoin transfers: try TRON first (USDT-TRC20, around $1) or BSC (around $0.20)
- NFT trading: most blue-chip NFTs still live on ETH mainnet β budget $20-100 in gas
The above is an educational comparison of network fees and common scenarios β it is not custody, investment or transfer advice. Always confirm the network supported by the recipient; sending on the wrong chain can permanently lose your funds.
